Jo Ann Davis Has Passed Away

Representative Jo Ann Davis, who represented the 1st Congressional District, lost her brave battle with breast cancer and passed away. I got the news earlier and am now able to confirm it. I wish her family and all those in the Virginia blogging community who knew and supported her all my sympathy.

At times like this, I'm simply at a loss for words. And perhaps it's one of those times when no words are possible or necessary. Maybe the only response to such news by those she left behind is to pray, cry, mourn, and celebrate a life well lived and the good deeds and legacy that she left.

May God be good to her!

May God be good to her?
He took her because she was a Republican and has sent mant Americans to die.
As God sais" an eye for an eye"

No. Not true. I do not believe a vengeful God took Jo Ann Davis' life.

In fact, I honestly believe she followed her conscience and did the best she could. As we all do.

Furthermore, the theology of why bad things happen to good people is one that has filled books and whole libraries, perhaps beginning with the Job story in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Writers as diverse as C.S. Lewis, Rabbi Harold Kushner and Phillip Yancey have written books about it.

None of us should presume to know why God has allowed a particular life to end. By your logic, an innocent child incurred the wrath of God and that's why he perished from leukemia? I don't think so.

I still say, God be good to her. And to all of us!
