My deepest sympathies go out to Barack Obama and his family on the loss of his 86 year old grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham. Obama has said about her"She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances."
Barack Obama received word of his grandmother's passing while he was in Jacksonville, Florida this morning. He had visited with her about ten days ago when her health began deteriorating. She had been fighting cancer for a long time.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Obama family right now.
