Give Fimian a Map of His District, Please!

Maybe one of 41 percent of Keith Fimian contributors who actually lives in his district could give him a map. The novice GOP candidate held a press conference today to announce his energy plan. Frankly, it’s a decent one. I’ll give credit where credit is due. He doesn’t just go for the cheap shot about drilling more. He acknowledges that we need to invest in renewable energy as well.

The problem is that he chose a gas station in the 8th CD. This frankly confuses me. As a resident of Burke, part of the 11th CD, I’d be happy to take him to a gas station charging exorbitant prices right in my neighborhood. Better still, have the New Providence Republican Women, who sponsored the press conference, provide him with a map of his own district.

Heaven forbid that some people outside of the 11th district would support Fimian. You idiots. Fimian's energy plan would be beneficial all Americans, not just those in the 11th district.

Sorry liberal democrat, but the problem is too many people outside the district support him and not enough inside it do. And showing up at a gas station in the 8th CD rather than the 11CD, regardless of how laudatory his actual energy proposal - I gave him credit for that - doesn't increase the perception that he's ready for prime time.

Truth is his campaign team missed an opportunity to present him as a candidate who cares about the 11th CD and would fight for its citizens' interests. Instead, he came across as an out of touch amateur. If I were him, I'd seriously think about getting somebody on board who could at least read a precinct map.

Anyway, it was funny - lighten up!

Thank you for the link to my post. The more the merrier.

The wise accept both praise and criticism with equal grace. So I expect Fimian will thank you both for recognizing that has a good energy plan and your observation about the location of the gas station. However, I expect he may also wonder why you think the location of the gas station is that important. Doesn't anybody from the 11th CD buy gas there?

Cough cough Judy Feder cough cough. Half her events have been outside her district. 90 percent of Salam Rasoul's have been outside the 6th. You going to say the same about them?

Thanks Tom. I agree, the more the merrier. And Anonymous, no I won't say that about Sam Rasoul and Judy Feder for two reasons. The first is that I'm not a professional pol so I don't know where their districts begin and end. I'm also not a professional journalist. I've got a day job, so I don't have time to pay attention to where every candidate appears. My primary interest is the ones running in my district.

But the most important reason I won't is because there are very capable, witty, and smart Republican bloggers, who I feel will be happy to watch and report Democratic faux pas. In fact, I've noticed that they already do an excellent job of it. So, I can rest easy that there will be equal treatment :)

For the record, the New Prov blog merely passed an invitation to our members that we had received from the campaign. The club didn't sponsor. I'm actually the one who posted the info to the blog.

Honestly, I didn't pay any attention to the address when I was cutting and pasting the info in. Since the club has members from the 8th, 10th and 11th districts, I'm kind of used to seeing announcements from various parts of Northern Virginia. So it didn't click. I'll just do a little amusing Homeresque "d'oh" for my small part here.

As far as the positively huge energy issue itself, I'm glad that it seems you found at least some common ground with Keith on the issues!
